Questions
A few things worth knowing.
Why does an automatic door matter?
Predators hunt at dusk and dawn — exactly when it's easiest to forget the door. An automatic door closes the coop on time, every time, whether you're home or away. It's the most hands-off upgrade you can make to your flock's safety.
How does the light-sensor mode work?
In its default mode, the door reads natural light: it opens about twenty minutes after sunrise and closes about twenty minutes after sunset. The sensor is tuned to ignore artificial light, so headlights or a porch light won't trigger it.
How does it handle Colorado cold?
The T50 is rated from -15°F to 140°F with a weatherproof, powder-coated aluminum body — built for the same winters as our coops. Expect roughly a year of life from a pair of AA batteries, cold snaps included.
What if a hen is in the doorway when it closes?
The built-in obstruction sensor stops the door the moment it meets resistance and reopens it, then tries again shortly after. A late hen pauses the door — she never gets pinned by it.
